A FAIR OF THE HEART
The Fair is an annual event to benefit the Sacred Heart Clinic, and is held on the first Sunday of Advent. The primary purpose is to promote creativity. The Fair has been successful because of the large number of people who volunteer to help provide home made gifts for sale and those who help set up and take down the presentation. Home made sandwiches are also offered for sale along with some beverages; tables are available to use for eating lunch after food purchases are made. The gifts arrive the Saturday before and are arranged in the Church basement the same day. The sale takes place after both masses. The Chair usually takes responsibility for coordinating the event for two years and in the third acting as adviser for the new chairperson. The responsibilities include: preparing the basement, cleaning, arranging the tables, finding display items, asking for volunteers to take charge of different areas of the sale, such as baking, talents and treats, food, etc., and helping those people find what they feel in necessary for their area of responsibility. The Chair and a Committee are responsible for pricing items and have the freedom to try any new ideas or procedures.
