Friday Night Community
A group of people who gather regularly for prayer, potluck dinner, and the "clarification of ideas." This effort started in 1994 when people felt that they did not want the Lenten Series (Friday nights of Lent) to end. The group meets on the second and fourth Fridays of the month. It is an open group, which welcomes new members all the time from the worshiping community and neighborhood. The evening includes prayer, a shared meal, and then a presentation either by a guest speaker or from within the group.
There is a subcommittee, The Heart's Corps, which has been meeting and working on project which the whole group supports. They are looking at ways to minister to the neighborhood. The Heart's Corps basic philosophy is the "ministry of just being there" ...a presence in the neighborhood.
